Founded in 1998, EQCA celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2008, commemorating a decade of building a state of equality in California. In the past 11 years, Equality California has strategically moved California from a state with extremely limited legal protections for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) individuals to a state with some of the most comprehensive civil rights protections in the nation.

Our mission is to empower the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) community and our allies to take bold action to demand full legal and social equality, and to hold accountable those who stand in the way.

The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) is dedicated to promoting and ensuring fair, accurate and inclusive representation of people and events in the media as a means of eliminating homophobia and discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation.

The Human Rights Campaign is America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality. By inspiring and engaging all Americans, HRC strives to end discrimination against LGBT citizens and realize a nation that achieves fundamental fairness and equality for all.

Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG)

PFLAG is a volunteer group of parents, family and friends of people who are gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT). We welcome all caring persons, including the GLBT community to our meetings and membership. We meet on the second Sunday of each month.

Many people don’t know where to turn when they find out a loved one is gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender (GLBT). Others don’t know where to go when they want to learn ways to support their GLBT friends and family through outreach and advocacy. Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) is there for all of these people. Nationwide, PFLAG members provide support and information to counter myths and misinformation about sexual orientation and gender identity. They are a resource to straight and fair-minded allies who want to join the fight for equality for all. Our message is clear: You have a home in PFLAG.

There is no cost to attend. Paid memberships support this chapter by paying for our rent, help line, and printed materials, but is optional.

PFLAG is a nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any political or religious institution.
